Alice Tomaselli
A core member of the artist collective Lucie Fontaine’s entourage, Alice Tomaselli (b. 1982, Milan, IT; lives and works in Los Angeles, US) describes herself as a conceptual artisan. Her practice centers on the notion of craft—an idea she explores through a personal lens, shaped by her experience as an Italian woman navigating life between Dovera (Italy) and Los Angeles.
Tomaselli’s work sits at the intersection of illustration and conceptual reflection, often engaging with the act of painting as both a technique and a subject of speculation. Trained as a visual artist in Italy, within a cultural landscape marked by individualism and machismo, she never abandoned her roots, remaining the daughter of a southern Italian woman who owns an art shop in one of the most economically challenged areas outside Milan, where she also organizes workshops for women who want to learn the art of craft.
